Himanshu Pahwa is a Senior Program Analyst focused on capacity building. Himanshu is based in New Delhi, India.
Himanshu brings over seven years of rich experience in grassroots and high-level program design and implementation. He has been a key contributor to the SJY: Satat Jeevikoparajan Yojana (Sustainable Livelihoods Programme) in Bihar, where he played a pivotal role in policy development, coaching and capacity-building initiatives, and partnership management. His expertise encompasses various development areas, including governance, social protection, poverty reduction, community development, livelihoods, and social inclusion.
Over the last five years, Himanshu has planned, designed, and implemented coaching and capacity-building strategies and modules for 100,000 targeted households and 10,000 stakeholders of the SJY program. In the past nine months, he has worked as a consultant for coaching and capacity-building for rural and urban programs with BRAC’s India team.
He holds a Master’s degree in Governance, Development, and Public Policy from the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, United Kingdom, and a Master’s degree in Social Work with a specialization in Livelihoods and Social Entrepreneurship from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, India. His academic research at IDS focused on the Ultra-Poor Graduation Program, with a study titled “Hope to Eliminate Extreme Poverty: A Study of Burundi, Rwanda, and Bangladesh.”
