While the climate crisis is a threat to everyone, it does not affect us all equally. Mainly because they represent 70% of the 1.3 billion people living in multidimensional poverty (UNPD, 2021) and are more dependent on threatened natural resources, women are more vulnerable to climate change. Paradoxically, they are also often left out of the conversation when it comes to climate negotiations. This session highlights the crucial role of women in scaling up climate efforts and meeting SDG13 calling “to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.” It also explores how to mitigate the impact of climate change on women’s lives worldwide and how to ensure their voices are better included in climate governance and leadership at the local, national, and multilateral levels as well as in the private sector.
